Bombing the smurfs

I just read this article. It seems that in Belgium as part of an ad campaign, UNICEF is using a video of what war would look like in the SMURF village.

The idea being that war can happen anywhere.
They said they hope that shocking people with the commerical will make them pay attention to war torn areas like the Sudan or the Congo.

Why the smurfs? It appears that the creator of the smurfs is from Belgium and the smurfs are very popular there.

Worth listening to.

If you are looking to music to listen to while using your computer or for a party, my friend Morgan has put the sets that he dj's on a website. Check it out I have been listening to them at work and they are really good. I recommend streaming.

One person can make a difference

The lecture last night was really good. I ended up watching it on a projection screen as the auditorium filled up before we got in. It was still worth going to. Paul Rusesabagina recounted his story and also discussed how we all have the ability to make change in the world. Someone asked him how he knew what to do and what to say, how he was able to do all this and his answer was very profound, he said that it wasn't his chose to do these things, but that he was lead to do them and he felt it was just his duty.

He also implored the crowd to meet the challenges that the world puts before us , that inside each of us might be another Raoul Wallenburg, or Paul Rusesabagina.
